Easy DIY Halloween Decorations: Ghosts & More!
Share
Halloween decorating doesn't have to be expensive or complicated! Over the years, I've had so much fun creating all kinds of DIY Halloween decorations, and I thought it would be fun to gather some of my favorites together in one place.
If you've been around here for a while, you might recognize a few of these projects. And if you're newer here, hopefully you'll find something that inspires you to get creative!
From adorable little ghosts to fun outdoor decorations, here are some of my favorite Halloween DIY projects that you can try in your own home!
1. A Little BOO with Napkin Decoupage!
I couldn't put together a roundup of Halloween projects without including a little napkin decoupage!
This 12-inch wood round is one of my most recent projects, and I just love how it turned out! I used two adorable ghost themed napkins from the Boo-tanical Napkin Bundle, added some wooden beads and the word BOO, and ended up with a fun piece that mixes Halloween with some pretty fall colors.
It's a great example of how you can take a simple wood blank and turn it into something completely different with just a few supplies!

2. Macrame Ghosts: Cute, Simple & So Versatile!

I have to admit, I have a soft spot for these little macrame ghosts! They're just so stinking cute, and there are so many different ways to use them.
I've made several versions over the years, including little ghosts that can be used as decorations and even a pillow cover featuring adorable macrame ghosts!
One of the things I love about these projects is that you can make them in different sizes and use them in all kinds of places around your home.
And the best part? I've already put together a tutorial featuring three different macrame ghost projects!

3. A DIY Ghost Doormat to Welcome Your Guests

Why not start the Halloween fun right at your front door?
This DIY ghost doormat was such a fun project, and I love that it's something you can actually use throughout the Halloween season.
It's a great way to add a little personality to your front porch without spending a fortune on seasonal decorations.
If you'd like to make one for your own home, I have a separate blog post that walks you through the process!

4. Cheesecloth Ghosts for a Spooky Tablescape

Sometimes the simplest supplies make the cutest decorations!
I made these little ghosts using cheesecloth and incorporated them into one of my Halloween tablescapes.
They're lightweight, inexpensive, and such a fun way to add a little Halloween character to your dining table.
You could also use them on a mantel, a tiered tray, or tucked into a Halloween display.
And because they're handmade, each one has its own little personality!
5. Ghost Napkin Holders for Your Halloween Table

While we're talking about Halloween tables, how about these cute little ghost napkin holders?
I love adding handmade touches to a tablescape, and these were such a fun way to carry the Halloween theme right down to the place settings.
Pair them with the cheesecloth ghosts, some seasonal dishes, and a few other decorations, and you've got a festive table ready for Halloween!
It's those little details that make decorating so much fun.
6. Turn Outdoor Bushes Into Glowing Ghosts!

Now this one might be one of my favorite Halloween decorating ideas because it's so unexpected!
I have some faux green light-up bushes along our front walkway, and I decided to give them a little Halloween makeover.
Using inexpensive white plastic tablecloths, I covered the bushes and added faces cut from vinyl to turn them into ghosts!
And because the bushes already light up, they look especially fun after dark.
Such a simple idea, but what a difference it makes along the walkway!
If you have something similar outside your home, this might be a fun decorating idea to try!
A Little Halloween Inspiration Goes a Long Way!
Looking back at these projects reminds me how much fun I've had creating decorations for our home over the years.
And here's something I hope you'll remember: You don't need a huge crafting budget or a room full of supplies to create something special!
Sometimes all it takes is a little yarn, some cheesecloth, an inexpensive tablecloth, or a few supplies you already have tucked away.
Whether you love decorating your front porch, dressing up your dining table, or adding a few cute little ghosts around the house, I hope these ideas have given you some inspiration!
