Discover the Magic of Cling Wrap for Effortless Decoupage!

Discover the Magic of Cling Wrap for Effortless Decoupage!

After years of hearing about others trying this method, I finally took the plunge myself. Come see the amazing results!

Here’s what you’ll need:

1. A wood surface (we have plenty of options for YOU!)
2. Something to attach (scrapbook paper, a LKH&H printable, napkin, etc.)
3. Parchment paper
4. An iron or a mini heat press
5. Sandpaper or a sanding block

I tried this technique for our Hop Into Spring Workshop. I used a 4 inch interchangeable tile and a print from the kit. The process would be the same for all of the mediums above! (Just a quick tip: if you're using a napkin, make sure to peel off the extra layers and only use the printed layer.)

Instructions:

1.Cut your paper to fit your wood surface. It’s totally fine if it’s slightly larger—you can sand off the extra later.

2. Lay a piece of cling wrap on your wood surface or cut a piece that is slightly larger than what you want to attach.

3. Place your paper *on top* of the cling wrap, positioning it exactly how you want it.

4. Cover everything with a piece of parchment paper.

5. Use your iron to go back and forth over the parchment paper. The cling wrap will melt underneath and act like glue, adhering the paper to the wood!

Lift the parchment paper occasionally to check your progress and make sure everything’s sticking. Just a heads up: the larger the surface, the longer it may take. So while this might not be the fastest decoupage method, the results are totally worth it.

Why I’m loving this method:
No bubbles. Seriously—NONE. The finish is so smooth, I was honestly shocked at how well it turned out!

Should you seal it?
Absolutely! Just like with any decoupage project, you’ll want to seal the top to protect it. You can use any sealer you prefer, but I like to stick with classic Mod Podge. Give it a try and let me know your thoughts!
