Celebrate Summer with a Charming Mod Podge Makeover

Nothing says summer like backyard barbecues, blooming gardens, and red, white, and blue! If you’re looking for an easy way to freshen up your seasonal décor, grab your Mod Podge and give that old watering can a cheerful new look using our Red, White & Blue Floral Napkins. This simple DIY project is the perfect way to add patriotic charm to your porch, patio, or tiered tray display—and it all starts with one of our brand-new Napkin Bundles!

What You’ll Need:

• An old or thrifted metal or plastic watering can

• Mod Podge (Matte or Outdoor works well)

• Foam brush

• Scissors

• Our Red, White & Blue Floral Napkins from the Patriotic Bundle

• Optional: Sealer for added protection (especially for outdoor use)

Let’s Make It:

1. Clean the Watering Can
   Start by wiping down your watering can to remove any dirt or dust. Let it dry completely. An optional step: Paint the watering can in white or your preferred background color to enhance the look of the patterned napkin. I choose to paint my all white.

2. Prep the Napkins
   Separate the napkin layers (you’ll only need the top printed layer). Cut or tear the design to fit your watering can. You can go for an all-over pattern or just cover certain areas—it’s totally up to you!

3. Apply Mod Podge
   Use a foam brush to apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the area you’ll be covering. Gently press your napkin onto the surface and smooth it out carefully with your fingers or a piece of plastic wrap to prevent tearing.

   

4. Seal It Up and Add Embellishments, If Desired.
   Once dry, apply another coat of Mod Podge over the top to seal it. Let it dry thoroughly. If you plan to use your watering can outdoors, consider sealing it with a waterproof spray or some outdoor Mod Podge for added durability. You can also add ribbons or other embellishments now, if you'd like! I added a layered ribbon as well as some little bun feet to the bottom.

5. Style It!
   Fill your newly decorated can with faux florals, mini flags, or summer stems and place it on a shelf, table, or next to your front door for a sweet seasonal statement.
